Overview

Our bioengineering research is focused in three broad areas:

  • surface modification of metals for medical applications, with improved cell materials interactions, bactericidal properties, and tribocorrosion resistant implants

  • development of bioglass for temporary implants, for biocidal membranes, functional coatings

  • development and characterization of dental materials

  • additive manufacturing (3D Printing) of customized and functionalized implants

Our surface engineering research is focused in two broad areas:

  • metallic materials modified by electrolytic plasma processes for improved corrosion and wear resistance

  • mechanical, tribological, and corrosive properties of hard coatings

Apart from these activities, we also have research activities in the areas of non-conventional machining (EDM, and PM-EDM), and additive manufacturing.
